The Big Picture

Every ten years, the City completes its visioning process with input from both staff and residents in the form of the Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan determines community goals and aspirations and then dictates public policy in terms of transportation, utilities, land use, recreation and housing. For Public Works, this sets forth much of the work of the department for upcoming years. To ensure these plans are carried out into actual projects, the Public Works department submits the project to be considered in the Capital Improvement Plan/Budget. This product is approved by the Council and puts timelines and resources behind the projects. When the time comes for the planning phase of a project Staff uses multiple commission created policies and public involvement to create a design that best serves the community of Richfield.
